Be Present: The Diane Ray Show

By Cindy Baumann

I was honored to be a guest on The Diane Ray Show: Be Present, where we explored some of the most profound and spiritual aspects of my grief journey. Diane asked thoughtful questions that allowed me to share some of my most meaningful experiences since losing Shaun.

Feeling Shaun’s Presence

One of the most comforting and transformative aspects of my journey has been the moments when I’ve felt Shaun’s presence. In this interview, I share:

  • The powerful experience of feeling Shaun’s presence in my room
  • What these spiritual encounters have meant to my healing
  • How these moments have brought comfort during the darkest times
  • The role of faith and spirituality in my grief journey

Pivotal Points in My Healing

Healing from traumatic loss isn’t a straight line—it’s a journey with ups and downs, breakthroughs and setbacks. In our conversation, I discuss:

  • The turning points that marked significant shifts in my healing
  • Moments when I chose life over despair
  • The people, practices, and experiences that catalyzed my transformation
  • How to recognize and embrace pivotal moments in your own healing

How Grief Changed Me

Grief doesn’t just affect us temporarily—it fundamentally changes who we are. I’ve been forever altered by the loss of my son, and while that’s painful, it’s also led to profound growth and purpose.

We explore:

  • The ways grief has transformed my perspective on life
  • How loss deepened my compassion and empathy
  • The unexpected gifts that emerged from my darkest pain
  • Why I now see myself as a “Grief Warrior”

What Helps Others Handle Their Grief

Through my work as a grief coach and my conversations with countless others who are grieving, I’ve learned what helps people navigate loss. In this interview, I share:

  • Common threads I’ve seen in people who find healing
  • Practical tools and practices that support the grief journey
  • What doesn’t help (and what well-meaning people should avoid saying)
  • How to support someone who is grieving
